Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterilized needles.
As your skin heals, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect. It can also help tackle other skin damage such as sun damage, scarring, dark marks, and ageing.
Micro-needling is also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and it involves using a surgical grade instrument called a dermapen.
The dermapen has lots of tiny needles at the end that make micro injuries or needle pricks in the top layers of your skin.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling can help with the following skin conditions:

  • Dull tired skin: Rejuvenate tired, dull skin, and fight the initial signs of ageing.
  • Sun Damage: Helps to rejuvenate and fade dark patches such as pigmentation due to sun damage or ageing.
  • Scarring: small scars from acne and Chicken Pox can also be improved and an uneven texture can be smoothed out.
  • Wrinkles: Wrinkles and Fine lines on the face can be reduced, as microneedling triggers collagen production.

Microneedling can also be safely performed on the body as well as the face.

Step by Step Procedure Guide

First, the therapist prepares the skin by cleansing and disinfecting.

Next, the therapist will use a dermapen to work around areas of the face to create micro injuries in the skin’s surface.

The process takes around 20-30 minutes and, while it involves needles in your face, the process is pretty painless but can be slightly uncomfortable.

Expect some redness for up to a couple days afterward as a result of all the skin stimulation, but it subsides quickly as the healing begins and the results of more glowing, supple skin start to show through.

To get the most effective results, you will need more than one treatment to continually build collagen and elastin.

As certified estheticians explain, “The results are cumulative, just like working out. You’re not tearing your skin down, you’re building it up.”

will normally reduce within the same day or 24 hours.
You could see slight redness after 24 hours but only in small areas or spots.
