Home care routine for your face.

What is a homecare routine for your face?

We often spend a lot of time exercising, dieting, and shopping for stunning clothes, why? Because we want to look and feel our best. This boosts our confidence and helps with self-esteem.

What is often forgotten is your skin and in particular your complexion.

Your face is the main focal point when you meet people and if you do not put the same time and effort that you put into exercising and dieting you could be missing a trick.

Even with very regular professional beauty treatments this will still not produce the glowing skin you often see on other people.

The secret that they know, and practise is a consistent homecare routine.

I see a lot of various skin conditions and during my consultation one of the first questions I ask is, what is your homecare routine? You will be surprised at how many people say they do not have one or they do not have time for one.

Taking the time out to speak to a specialist and building a homecare routine or skin care workout as I like to call it can lead to remarkable improvement to your complexion, whatever age you are.

What are the basics for a skin homecare routine?

The three most important tasks you should be completing daily are:

Cleansing

Face cleansing should be the first step in any skincare routine, as it really helps to clears away impurities and excess oil that can clog pores and create looking dull skin.

This does not mean a brutal regime with any old product. Find out what skin type you are and buy products that compliment it. Some people use a strong cleanser which is not suited to their skin type, and this can leave your skin unbalanced as it can break down your natural protective barrier.

Toning

Not everyone needs toner, lets get that straight. However, careful use of the correct toner can be a wonderful way to refresh skin and remove any residual debris.

If you are prone to acne then look for a toner with ingredients such as salicylic acid, this can help prevent breakouts.

If you have dry or sensitive skin, then look for a hydrating toner that avoids alcohol as an ingredient as this too can leave your skin fighting to correct its natural balance. Look for toners with ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid to soothe.

Moisturising

Keeping your skin moisturised and hydrated is essential for that all important glow.

You should always try and find a moisturiser or serum that suits your specific skin type as this can both treat and protect.

It is also worth noting that you should change your moisturiser according to the time of year.

In summer you should try and use a lighter moisturiser and in winter you need a richer moisturiser that contains more protective oils.
